Well most of you already know who I am, but for those of you who don’t, let me introduce myself! My name is Kiki and I am a 13-year-old black lab mix. My mom adopted me when I was just 12 weeks old and we’ve been together my whole life!

I remember when I was just a young pup, my mom was upset because she couldn’t find any wholesome treats for me to eat in the local stores, so one day, my mom decided to put her baking skills to good use and whipped me up a batch of cookies … and boy were they yummy! My mom said I had to share them with my doggie friends (let me tell you, I wasn’t very pleased about this!) but mom said she would make me more if I shared. So, after sharing my cookies with my friends, and seeing how much they liked them, mom told me that she was going to open a doggie bakery so that she could make cookies for all the pups in the country!

Now, I know what you’re thinking! You’re thinking WOW Kiki, you are one lucky dog to have a mom that loves you so much that she makes you your very own cookies and opens up a doggie bakery just for you. And, I would have to say, I agree! After all, my mom always tells me that I am the most spoiled dog in all of America! BOL*

Now, my mom thinks that The Barkery is her company, but everyone really knows that it belongs to me! It’s my name on the door after all! And, when I go to work with my mom, I sit in the office, right in front of the desk. Well, if I’m being honest, now that I am in my older years, I mostly sleep under the desk, but I do still get up to bark at the other dogs that come in the store!

Ok, so enough about me! Let me tell you a little about my mom and why I love her so much! My mom used to bake treats for humans! Yup, that’s right! All of you humans used to get to have my mom’s cookies, but now they are all for us, the four-legged customers! BOL* When my mom stopped making human treats, she did some other job I hear her call “sales”. Now, I don’t really know what this means, but its probably why my mom is so good at her job now!

Every day when dogs come in to The Barkery, my mom makes sure that they are all treated like Kings and Queens. I mean, my mom has a cookie jar with free cookies in it and the dogs can have as many cookies out of the cookie jar as they want! What’s better than that?

When my mom’s not working, we take walks together and we go for lots of rides! We also like to cuddle on the couch together and I love my belly rubs! My mom makes sure that we always give back to those dogs that are less fortunate. She supports rescues across the country and she also supports organizations that benefit police k-9’s and military working dogs. Above all, my mom is a huge dog lover. One of her favorite quotes is “until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened.”

So, that’s enough about us for now! See you in my next blog!
